Customer Reviews about Hughes Driver Training:

I first had my practical training at 28/02/17 at Leicester with Hughes driver training. The site alone (yard) is a complete health and safety hazard. No lighting, no offices, no toilets, no solid ground. When I first arrived there was no description on who I was meeting and where on the site. The yard was full on old vehicles that have been broken down and parts falling off onto the site ground where we have to drive through as there is no sign car parking spaces. The information I was given was minimum and unhelpful. The yard was also infested with rats and other wildlife. The ground had extremely large pot holes which is hard to detect when the rain has made puddles which has effected my car. When I eventually met and find out who is my instructor I was not given details about the vehicle I was driving. I then found out I was pairing with another person without warning that was learning as well. I was then handed over the keys to the vehicle without any knowledge that it was a automatic as I never driven automatic before. Then I was expected to drive from centre of Leicester to Loughborough knowing this is my first day, never driven anything else other than my Toyota xplay and being a manual. Im not local to the area as I live 40 mins away from the destination so I had a extremely disadvantage. My instructor was a very negative person and racist as he quotes " you need to know the queens English to drive on the road" repeatedly, he also makes negative comments infront of myself and D**** who attended on my first day. After driving to Loughborough I hardly drove after that. I worked out that I only had 12-14 hrs of driving a C class before my test. The minimum requirement is 16-20 20 min the Hughes driver training website. My instructor kept making negative comments about the company and made it harder to concentrate learning as I felt unreassured about the 2/10 pass rate within this company on a good day when I was informed by LGV training company 7/10. He also did not go through with me the vehicle checks as he quoted that part is covered in your module 4 CPC and not in your test. So I had no knowledge about the vehicle questions. On the day of my test, the instructor I had all week passed me other to another which had made me more nervous as my autism, I find it hard sometimes to be comfortable around new people. The vehicle its self was not in any kind of driving state. This vehicle was a D plate. The steering was off and very playful which made it hard to learn and go straight. The brakes were not sufficient as I had to use my whole body weight just for the vehicle to slow down and not a light person. The window wiper blades do not work, in raining weather it was almost impossible to see even in a light spay of rain. My brake lights were not working so that is illegal to start with. The gear handle kept falling off as it was not secure to the dashboard and they didnt bother to fix it. The bonnet switch was snapped off and came off the controls so it was swinging around in the cab which made it more harder to concentrate. The tires had buldges which is not safe to drive but my instructor insisted to drive anyway. I was not made aware of any controls in the cab. There was no first aid kit in the cab. The windscreen alone was covered in cracks and chips which made it much harder to see and justice the right decision with distance I am extremely unsatisfied with the training I had and the location. The bus drivers that also use that site to collect the buses to start the day get aggressive if we park in a certain space even tho there is no where to park to keep them satisfied. I am very disappointed with what I payed for and upset that I used every penny I had to pay for this course and it was not up the the professional standard. I feel as if Ived been robbed. This is at hughes driver training at Leicester on thurmaston footpath.
